Peace or Justice - Which Comes First?

On Wednesday 7th December 2011 Concordis International facilitated a mini-conference entitled ‘Peace or Justice – Which Comes First?’. The conference addressed the relationship between peace and justice in working towards reconciliation in conflict situations. The evening was very informative, stimulating thought-provoking discussion, led by a panel of experts in the field of justice and reconciliation. The Trustees and Staff of Concordis are very grateful to Clifford Chance LLP for generously hosting the conference and reception. We would also like to thank our speakers, Revd Canon David Porter, Prof Chandra Sriram and Dr Phil Clark, as well as all our guests, for their participation in the event.

Sudan Organisation for Non-Violence and Development

Sudan Organisation for Non-Violence and Development (SONAD)DavidHaberlah_FurGirlandDonkey_CC

Concordis International is working with the Sudan Organisation for Non-Violence and Development to mitigate risks associated with the status of southerners in the North and northerners in South Sudan after the end of the CPA period.

In 2011, southern Sudanese have a right to vote in a referendum on self-determination of South Sudan. In the event of a vote for secession, what will happen to the millions of southerners currently living in northern Sudan and the northerners currently living in southern Sudan? The answer is far from clear.  SONAD is working with marginalised people to promote nonviolent responses to this situation.
