Sudan Inter-Faith Programme

Brief Overview

Since late 2007, we have been working in partnership with the Sudan Inter-Religious Council (SIRC) to develop the capacity of Sudanese religious leaders of different faiths, from across the country, to cooperate in promoting and facilitating peace and reconciliation.  This work is not simply about inter-faith dialogue, but addresses the role of religious leaders in dealing with the human security, human rights and livelihood needs of the communities they serve.  The project started with a major conference in February 2008 in Khartoum for religious leaders from all parts of Sudan.  We have supported SIRC regional workshops in Northern Sudan and separately provided expert content for an inter-religious conference in Juba in October 2009.  We also supported the premiere in Khartoum of the Arabic version of the film 'The Imam and the Pastor" in January 2010.
