Cross Border Relations Project in 2011: Post-referendum and Beyond the Interim Period

The project was funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and was implemented from April to November 2011. The purpose of the project was to: support peaceful coexistence between populations living along the North/South border; reduce the likelihood of the outbreak of violent conflict in these areas; contribute towards de-escalation of violence and resolution of underlying conflict causes in the case of outbreaks of armed hostilities; support the design and implementation of a border regime that meets the human security needs of the populations along Sudan's North/South border and contributes to broader stability in relations between Northern and Southern Sudan. The work developed from previous EU-funded border peacebuilding and led into the subsequent parallel projects funded by the EU.
