More than a Line: Sudan's North-South Border

This conflict assessment, prepared by Concordis International under commission from the United States Institutes of Peace, examines drivers of peace and conflict in the North-South border areas of Sudan. The contents derive from desk and field research undertaken in mid-2010 and are also informed by the views and concerns expressed by participants at workshops in seven locations along the North-South border and at a senior level workshop in Khartoum.

Peacemakers by Peter Dixon

Peter Dixon’s book Peacemakers: Building stability in a complex world was published in October 2009 by IVP.  This is not ‘officially’ a Concordis book, but there is much in it about the way Concordis International goes about its business. In the book, Peter offers a non-academic, personal but balanced look at issues of war and peace, pacifism and the Just War tradition, intervention and reconciliation. Writing from a Christian viewpoint, he concentrates on how people can involve themselves in working towards peace, stability and reconciliation as ‘third parties’ in 21st Century violent conflict. The book is available at Amazon UK with free delivery in the United Kingdom and the Book Depository with free delivery worldwide.

Concordis International Annual Review 2009

ann_review

This year has seen a major change in the scale and depth of our activities at Concordis International.

On the back of five years of effective peace-building as Concordis, and a substantially longer period as the Newark Park Initiative and Relationships Foundation International, we were awarded financial support from the European Union for a two year project in Sudan, enabling us to greatly expand our work there.

Concordis has continued to work in partnership with others to support a number of initiatives aimed at improving the prospects for long-term peace in other countries, most recently Kenya and Afganistan.
